This facility is a former Ford manufacturing plant in Edison, New Jersey. It was located at 939 Us Highway 1 in Edison, NJ and occupied over 100 acres when it was open. The factory began operations in 1948 and was closed in 2004. It was also known as Metuchen Assembly, where it made several popular Ford products, such as the Ford Mustang, Ford Ranger, and the Ford Pinto. When the plant opened in 1948, it manufactured the new Mercury and post war Lincolns. It was one of two manufacturing facilities in New Jersey and was built two years before the Mahwah Assembly plant was opened in 1950. Numerous vehicles were produced at the plant including the Ford Falcon, Ford Escort. Mercury products such as the Mustang-based Mercury Cougar, Mercury Bobcat, and the Mercury Lynx were also assembled there. According to an article printed in the New York Times on February 27, 2004 "the Edison plant opened in 1948 in Ford's post-World War II expansion. Over the years, the company said, it produced nearly 6.9 millions vehicles, starting with Lincolns in its first decade, then Falcons, Comets and Mustangs in the 1960's, and Pintos, Bobcats, Escorts and Lynxes from 1972 to 1990. Then, production shifted to the Ranger pickups".〔(NY Times Edison closing article )〕 It was one of only three locations Ford manufactured the Mustang; the other sites were Dearborn Assembly and Milpitas Assembly in San Jose, California. ==External Links and References== *(Photos of Mustangs from Metuchen Assembly ) *(Ford Mustang assembly locations ) *(History of Ford production in New Jersey ) List of Ford factories 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Edison Assembly」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
